This Broadway Revival is sleek, sexy,
seductive, and extremely sensual. It's "Cabaret" within a cabaret,
as the audience is assembled at circular tables. The emcee not only
interacts, he dances with them!! With ad libs from Alan Cumming,
this role is completely his!

This is the opening number "Willkommen" performed by Alan Cumming and the Original Broadway Cast. In this number we are introduced to the Kit Kat Girls, the Kit Kat Boys, and to, of course, Sally Bowles!!! |
This is the Kit Kat Club's Band. The actors are actually playing their own instruments. This set is actually above the stage, with iron spiral staircases on stage left and stage right. It gives the illusion of a gritty nightclub. |
"You have to understand the way I am, Mein Herr" - Sally Bowles As performed by Natasha Richardson and the Kit Kat Girls |

This is probably the funniest show I have ever seen. A has-been Broadway producer enlists the aid of an unwitting accountant to produce the biggest flop on Broadway so they can run away to Rio with the investment money. I saw this on Broadway with Brad Oscar as Max and Steven Weber as Leo Bloom. Although I thought that Oscar was sublime as Max, Weber left much to be desired, though he was competent. I saw this again on tour and Andy Taylor makes a superb Leo Bloom. |

Steven Weber wants to be a Producer on Broadway |
Cady Huffman, on Broadway, plays Ulla, who steals Leo Blooms heart. A phenomenal actress!! |
Brad Oscar used to be the king, "the king of old Broadway." and now he's on tour. "Funny Boy" is a musical version of "Hamlet" which flops, causing Max to reminisce |
Oscar "will be on top again" when he returns next month to Broadway to Standby for "Maaax', played by Nathan Lane |

Without a doubt my favorite musical. This is the story of a young woman who falls in love with a GI during the Viet Nam conflict. When she is left behind during the fall of Saigon, she swears to find him again, and with the help of the scrupulous Engineer, she is able to see him one last time. This is definitely a tear-jerker and the effects, while sometime overblown, do not distract from the story. Unlike a certain chandelier from a certain show which I will discuss at a later date. |
